Signing ceremony for cooperation between GATIS and CAEDA held in Beijing

In order to promote global economic stability and prosperity, and to jointly advance trade in services cooperation among relevant countries and regions, a meeting between the Global Alliance for Trade in Services (GATIS) and the China-Asia Economic Development Association (CAEDA) was held on March 9, 2023, at CAEDA. Jiang Zengwei, President of GATIS, and Quan Shunji, President of CAEDA, attended the meeting and signed a memorandum of cooperation on behalf of their respective organizations.

President Quan Shunji first welcomed President Jiang Zengwei and his delegation's visit to CAEDA. Quan highlighted that with the acceleration of global economic recovery and China becoming the world's second-largest country in service trade, China’s high-quality development will drive other economies. He emphasized the growing need to build a platform for exchange and cooperation in international service trade. CAEDA has actively engaged in people-to-people diplomacy for many years, promoting economic exchanges and cooperation between Chinese enterprises and South Korea, Japan, and 48 countries and regions in Asia. CAEDA serves as a platform and bridge for Chinese enterprises and local governments to engage in foreign exchanges and cooperation. GATIS and CAEDA have many overlapping objectives and business scopes. It is hoped that this signing will provide an opportunity for both parties to contribute to the healthy development of global service trade and world prosperity.

President Jiang Zengwei expressed his gratitude to President Quan Shunji for the careful arrangement of today's signing ceremony and discussion. Jiang pointed out that in recent years, global trade in services has steadily developed. With continuous expansion in scale, ongoing optimization of structure, and significant improvement in quality, it plays an increasingly important role in driving world economic growth. The establishment of GATIS conforms to the trend of world economic development and responds to the requirements of the era for the development of trade in services. As a national first-level corporate legal person, CAEDA coordinates and promotes exchanges and cooperation between member enterprises and the business communities of various Asian countries, showcasing extensive influence. There is vast potential and broad space for cooperation between the two sides. It is believed that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation will serve as an opportunity for both parties to continuously leverage their respective resource advantages and carry out fruitful cooperation.

During the meeting, the two sides communicated extensively, exchanged views on future cooperation models, and reached a consensus. The following personnel also attended the meeting: Liu Honglu, Executive President of CAEDA; Chen Jun, Executive Vice President and Secretary General of CAEDA; Wang Kejian, Executive Vice President of CAEDA; Gong Changzhi, Vice President of CAEDA; Piao Longri, Vice President of CAEDA; as well as Li Weiwei, Secretary-General of GATIS.
